Accessibility at Penrith Conservatorium of Music
At Penrith Conservatorium of Music, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, families, and visitors. We strive to ensure our venue and services are accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability or access needs.

Parking & Entry

Accessible parking is available in both the adjacent Council car park and Westfield car park, offering convenient access to the venue.

The Joan has multiple ground-level entrances, each with level access and automatic double doors, ensuring easy entry for all.


Lift & Access Within the Venue

Lift access is available to all levels of the building, including any teaching studios, practice rooms, or theatres that are not located on the ground floor. The lift is situated near the café and provides access to every floor of the facility.

All teaching studios and rehearsal spaces that require stair access can also be reached via the lift.


Accessible Facilities

  • Accessible bathrooms are located on both the Ground Floor and Level 2.

  • Corridors and doorways throughout Penrith Con are designed to accommodate mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers.

  • Seating areas in common spaces are available for those who may require rest between activities or classes.


Theatre & Performance Spaces

Our theatres at The Joan are equipped with inclusive design features:

  • Wheelchair-accessible seating with excellent sight lines.

    • The Concert Hall provides two companion seats per wheelchair space.

    • The Q Theatre provides one companion seat per wheelchair space.

  • Hearing loop is available in the Q Theatre to assist patrons with hearing aids.

  • Accessible entry points to the theatre spaces ensure a smooth experience for all patrons.


Music Education & Support

At Penrith Con, we understand that accessibility goes beyond physical spaces. We offer:

  • Alternative formats for learning materials (e.g., large print, digital access).

  • Flexible teaching approaches to support diverse learning styles and needs.

  • Accessible practice and teaching rooms, available upon request.

  • Assistance from staff for students with mobility, hearing, or visual impairments.
