As part of the Penrith Youth Orchestra (PYO) initiative, this Stage Management Training Program offers aspiring stage professionals the chance to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, live performance environment.
Through an internship-style volunteer role, participants will support PYO rehearsals and performances’ technical and operational delivery.
Training is delivered through Sunday workshops on three consecutive Sundays each school term, culminating in four public performances each year. The program begins with a three-day intensive Academy Weekend in March in partnership with the Australian Chamber Orchestra—an exciting opportunity to learn from industry leaders.
Participants gain valuable real-world experience, build professional networks, and develop practical skills in stage management—offering a strong foundation for future study or careers in the performing arts. Through hands-on training and mentorship from industry professionals, the program helps build confidence, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to bring live performances to life.
All activity takes place at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith.
