This Arts Administration Training Program is ideal for those passionate about arts leadership, orchestral coordination, and behind-the-scenes planning.

Participants will work closely with professional staff and guest artists to gain real-world skills in arts admin and project management.

Training includes Sunday workshops each term, with administrative and logistical tasks building toward four live performances annually.

The program starts with an immersive Academy Weekend in March with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Designed for those pursuing arts or music management, this internship offers practical industry experience with a focus on orchestral logistics and administration.

All activity takes place at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith. Some tasks may be performed remotely as arranged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicating with artists and conductors
  • Building rehearsal and performance schedules
  • Booking venues and coordinating logistics
  • Managing music hire, preparation, and distribution
  • Overseeing orchestra seating plans and setup
  • Supporting performance-day operations

Commitment

Participants should expect a 10–20 hour commitment per term, including both hands-on event work and pre-/post-production administration.

A minimum of one term is required, with preference for year-round participants and those available for the Academy Weekend.

Program Requirements

  • Age 16–28 (as of 1 January 2025)
  • Working with Children Check clearance (where applicable)
  • Ability to attend a program induction
  • First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Strong interest in music and arts leadership
